School Leaver Employment SupportsFor young people leaving high school who are preparing for work, independence and their next step after school.
WORK PATHWAYS
Different strengths.

Explore six practical training areas. Participants can develop skills through real tasks, guided practice and repeated opportunities to grow.
01HOSPITALITY
Coffee & Barista
Prepare espresso-based drinks, grind and dose beans, texture milk and present orders. Practise customer service, food hygiene and cleaning at Eben Coffee House and the Coffee Cart.
02BAKING
Baking & Food Preparation
Build practical baking, decorating and food preparation skills through supported kitchen activities, with attention to safe routines and product presentation.
03DESIGN
Art, Design & Illustration
Explore drawing, watercolour, digital illustration and graphic design. Develop a portfolio and original designs for art prints, postcards and products through sublimation printing.
04DIGITAL
Media & AI
Explore media projects, digital creative tools, AI image generation and creative storytelling. Build confidence using technology to develop and share ideas.
05CERAMICS
Pottery
Explore hands-on pottery and creative production, building practical skills through guided making and repeated practice.
06MAKING
Candle Making
Develop practical candle-making skills through supported, hands-on activities and creative product development.
JOB TRAINING & EMPLOYMENT SUPPORT
Everyday skills that carry into work
Alongside a chosen training area, participants practise the everyday skills that help them prepare for work and greater independence.
Computer & Digital Skills
Practise Microsoft Office, Google Drive and communication tools used in everyday workplaces.
Literacy & Numeracy
Strengthen reading, writing and number skills through practical activities connected to work.
Communication & Teamwork
Develop social and vocational communication, customer service, leadership, teamwork and resilience. The program outline includes eight-week communication blocks with a speech therapist.
Travel & Independence
Practise using public transport to get between home and work, with support shaped around the participant’s needs.
Resume & Interview Skills
Build a resume around developing skills and experience. Practise common interview questions, presentation and workplace expectations.
Money & Workplace Routines
Practise cash registers, calculating change, card payments and everyday money skills, alongside organisation and basic administration.
SLES TRAINING JOURNEY
A two-year pathway,
one step at a time.
The 2026 SLES outline moves from exploring options to focused training and work experience. The team will discuss how the outline fits the participant’s goals and support needs.
Explore different areas
Try a range of training activities, develop literacy and numeracy, and practise social and vocational communication. Discover strengths and interests before choosing a focus.
Choose a focus & build skills
Concentrate on a chosen pathway while continuing computer skills, customer service, communication and transport training. Build workplace routines through supported practice.
Prepare for work
Take part in work experience and practise writing a resume, attending interviews, managing money and travelling to work. Review the next step with the team.

Training happens in places where the community can see it.

Participants practise real tasks across creative production, hospitality and social enterprise.

Participants practise decorating and presenting handmade treats with guidance from the team.
SUPPORTED WORKPLACE
The right support helps people succeed at work.
At Eben Coffee House, participants practise real tasks alongside support workers who understand their communication, learning and sensory needs. Support is practical and person-centred—helping each team member build confidence and independence.
MELBOURNE COFFEE LEARNING TOUR
Learning from one of Australia’s great coffee cities.
Our team travelled to Melbourne to explore café culture, visit coffee specialists and experience different approaches to brewing and customer service. The tour connected practical learning with new ideas to bring back to Eben Coffee House.
